Forward Slash

It’s been a long week, if I do say so myself. Lots of projects going and learning new things all the time. I’ve got a lot running through the brain today, so please bear with rabbit trails and non-sensical ramblings.

Twining:

Yes, it is supposed to be lopsided, I ‘m experimenting with making the sides being non-symetrical. It’s my first shot at both of these. I may or may not dye this basket, but I definitely will be experimenting with that on the next one.

Coiling:

I made two of these little guys because this one did not go so well at first. It’s an interesting technique, but if I were to use it on a project I would alter the material because the yarn seems to get fuzzy as you work.  (Sorry about the terrible picture quality, my camera is not working right now.)I’m taking a break from sewing a burlap dress for a project a friend and I are working on. My machine is too heavy to cart around, so I brought the dress home with me. I knew burlap was going to be a mess to work with, but I did not know how much of a mess. It’s everywhere. Part of the concept for the project is decomposition, so that’s good in that aspect, but for my sanity, not really. If it all works out, it will be worth the effort that’s going to this. I am enjoying the process, but I would really like to see this thing be finished, as it’s been dragging out.

In a few hours I am going to take off to do some enameling. It’s the first time, so I’m a little nervous. There was not much instruction given for this project, but thankfully these are just samples to learn the different possible techniques. As soon as I get a couple projects back, I’ll post some pictures for you all to see. I’m pleased with the way my silk painting turned out, but my hollow form copper ring needs some serious lacquer removal.

Time to get back to work!
