I started training this week for a half marathon, and I must stay, I am ecstatic! Running is one of my favourite activities known to man.
I don’t plan on running the race for about six months because I won’t have time for many long runs in the near future, so right now I’m focusing on strength training and getting miles in.
Sunday: Ran two miles, lifted upper body, core, ran a mile
Monday: Ran three miles (25:05), lifted lower body, core, ran a mile
Tuesday: Ran three miles (23:50), lifted upper body, core, ran two miles
Wednesday: Rest day (due to all the errands I had to run)
Thursday: Ran three miles (24:09), lifted lower body, core, ran a mile
Friday: Two miles, lower body, core, one mile
One of my first goals is to get my three miles down to 21:00 and then I want to add a fourth for 28:00. After that, add a fifth mile and finish at 35:00. I know that is fairly ambitious, to run five consecutive miles at a 7:00 minute pace, but I relish the challenge. I met one of my lifting goals accidentally yesterday. I wanted to reach 300 on the seated (not incline) leg press and I did it! I was lifting with someone and that is what he had his set on and I forgot to change it back to the 240 I had been lifting. I thought it was kind of heavy and then looked to see the three hundred. I was excited.
